1. Stand with your feet together, shoulder-width apart. Your right hand should be placed on your partner's left shoulder, and your left hand should be placed on your partner's right shoulder.
2. Step forward with your right foot and tap it on the ground. Bring your left foot to meet it, then step back with your right foot and tap it on the ground again.
3. Repeat steps 2 and 3, alternating feet. As you do this, your body will move from side to side.
4. To turn while doing the merengue, simply shift your weight to the front or back foot and pivot in the desired direction.
5. Practice makes perfect! The more you practice, the smoother and more graceful your merengue dancing will become.
