What breathing techniques are used in qigong?

Diaphragmatic Breathing (腹式呼吸)

- Deep, slow breaths that use the diaphragm to draw air into the lower belly

- Expands the lungs and abdominal cavity, increasing oxygen intake and reducing stress

Reverse Abdominal Breathing (逆腹式呼吸)

- Inhale while contracting the abdominal muscles and exhale while relaxing them

- Stimulates the internal organs and promotes abdominal strength

Embryo Breathing (胎息 / Tai Xi)

- Deep breaths with the mouth closed, visualized as breathing through the navel

- Helps to cultivate internal energy and promote relaxation

Lion's Breath (狮子吼 / Shi Zi Hou)

- Vigorous breathing with a forceful exhale and loud "HA" sound
