What does addition mean in dance?

Addition refers to the choreographic technique or action of adding something new to the dance vocabulary or movement phrase.

This can be achieved by combining existing steps, adding on variations or embellishments of movements, building upon movement sequences to build longer phrase, altering the dynamics or qualities of movement (e.g., adding speed or changing energy level), or incorporating props or objects to enhance or modify the dance.

In other words, addition is about enriching the dance vocabulary and expanding the range of choreographic possibilities.
