How to Become a Radio City Rockette

The Radio City Rockettes are one of the most exclusive dance troupes in the United States. It is not easy to become part of the troupe, though there are ways to get ahead of the competition. The Radio City website recommends participation in its dance education programs, three-hour-long dance class, and summer intensive and other programs prior to auditioning.

      Become proficient in tap dance and jazz. Rockette candidates must have these skills.

      Become a U.S. citizen or become a permanent legal resident of the United States prior to casting in order to be able to work here.

      You must meet the Rockettes' height requirement of 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 10 1/2 inches tall in stockinged feet.

      You must be 18 years old by August 30 of the current year in order to audition for the Radio City Rockettes.

      Make sure that you will be available for contract dates from October or early November to late December/January. These dates may vary depending on the show in which you are cast.

      Bring proper footwear, including high heels and tap shoes. Wear a leotard, tights and makeup to the audition.

      Arrive to the audition early and bring your head shot and your résumé.
