How to Start a Dance Teacher Cover Letter

When applying for a position as a dance teacher, a cover letter can help convince your prospective employers that you are an ideal fit for the position. The cover letter serves as a complement to your resume, list of accomplishments and years of training. It allows you to share with the hiring parties why you feel you are well suited to the position and to express your passion and love of dance. The opening paragraph of a cover letter is the most important, and often the hardest to write.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the cover letter with a hook statement or a formal introductory statement. For example, for a formal introduction, write, "I am writing in regard to the dance teacher opportunity at the Arthur Murray studio." For a more creative approach, choose a statement from the heart that reflects your passion for dance. For example, "Dance has always been the great love of my life."

    • 2

Incorporate the relevant details regarding why you are writing, if you did not do so in the opening sentence. This includes the name of the position you are applying for, the name of the school or studio and how you were referred, if applicable.

    • 3

Give an overview of your experience in dance. You can go into further detail in the body of the cover letter. For example, "I have over two decades of training in a variety of styles and over five years experience teaching and choreographing."

    • 4

Integrate a line or two that reflects your love and passion of dance, and thus, for teaching. For example, "To me, the only thing greater than my love of dance is passing on that love to others."

    • 5

Express confidence that the hiring party will find you an ideal fit. For example, "As you learn of my specific experience in dance, training and above all, passion for the art, I am confident you will see that I will prove to be an asset to the studio and likewise the students."
