Select an instructional series on how to break-dance from the Internet. Some free options are listed under Resources. Everyone learns differently, so browse through a couple of different tutorials to see what you prefer.
Purchase an instructional break-dancing series if you desire.
Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes before beginning your practice. To warm up, you can do jumping jacks, jump rope, jog or do any other activity to generate body heat.
Stretch out thoroughly before attempting any break-dancing moves. You should particularly stretch out your wrists, since they tend to receive a lot of stress. Stretching should take at least 20 minutes.
Practice the most challenging moves that you are are learning first while you are as fresh as possible.
Practice the basic movements, such as the stab, as consistently as possible to build a solid break-dancing foundation.
Learn progressively more difficult break-dancing moves in the series, and pay careful attention to your body. Select moves that will stretch your abilities but are not beyond your capability.
