What type of movements are used in ballet?

Basic Ballet Movements:

1. Plié: A bending of the knees while keeping the back straight.

2. Relevé: Pushing up on the balls of the feet while maintaining the body's alignment.

3. Tendu: Extending the working leg outward in a straight line while the supporting leg remains in place.

4. Dégagé: Moving the working leg off the ground in any direction with a slight flick of the foot.

5. Rond de jambe: Moving the working leg in a circular motion along the floor or in the air.

6. Battement: Quickly swinging the working leg to or past 90 degrees and back to the starting position.

7. Fondu: Gliding the working foot along the floor from one point to another.

8. Grande Jeté: A leap where both feet leave the ground and the legs open to a 180-degree split in mid-air.

9. Pirouette: Spinning on one leg while keeping the other leg extended.

10. Adagio: A series of slow, graceful movements that showcase balance, control, and musicality.

11. Allegro: Fast and energetic movements that involve jumps, leaps, turns, and balances.

12. Port de Bras: Graceful and expressive movements of the arms that complement the movements of the feet and body.
