How to Improve Your Ballet Development in a Week

Ballet is both an art form and a sport. The physical components of the dance, coupled with the ability to express thoughts and feelings through movement, are what sets ballet apart from other dance styles. Improving ballet skills and techniques is an ongoing process, one that is a lifestyle for many. You can work on improving your ballet development in a week if you want to make changes to elements of your ballet repertoire or skill set.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what week you have available to focus on your ballet skills, techniques and movements. Review your calendar and make sure the chosen week is free of other commitments. If you will be devoting one full week to developing your ballet abilities, make sure you're completely free to do so properly.

Sign up for an intensive development class or program. Ballet studios offer one-week intensive courses designed to help hone skills in multiple techniques. Choose a one-week session that fits your schedule.

    • 3

Sleep for eight full hours every night while attending an intensive ballet development program. Your body will need the chance to recover between days. Typical intensive, one-week sessions begin in the morning, breaking for lunch, and running through just past dinner time. Make sure to eat healthfully while attending such training programs.

Work on technique between classes. If you are attending ballet training every day, use the evenings to practice movements learned during the day in front of a full-length mirror. Ask permission from the ballet instructor to tape sessions for review in the evenings to further monitor your ballet development.
