The book is based on a number of studies started in the 1960s that argued for the nutritional benefits of consuming whole grains and bran. When consumed properly, bran is a good source of dietary fiber and can reduce cholesterol levels, assist in weight control and help prevent various diseases.
"The Bran Plan Diet" discusses the benefits of specific types of bran and argues for the incorporation of bran into the daily diet. It provides 40 different high-fiber, low-fat recipes, ranging from pasta to seafood dishes, and a "Bran Cocktail" addendum. The book also outlines a 28-day bran-based meal plan to help reduce weight.
