Do you put periods in poems?

It depends on the style and intent of the poem, as well as the poet's personal preferences and aesthetic choices. In traditional poetic forms, such as sonnets and villanelles, the use of periods is typically governed by specific rhyme schemes and metrical patterns. In free verse poetry, however, periods may be used more flexibly to create desired effects or emphasis, or simply to indicate the end of a line or thought. Ultimately, the use of periods in poems is a matter of poetic license and creative expression, and there is no one definitive rule for all poems.
