Who are the national poets of India?

India doesn't officially designate a single "national poet" like some countries do. However, there are several poets who are widely considered to be among the greatest and most influential figures in Indian literature and are often referred to as "national poets" or "poets laureate" of India:

* Rabindranath Tagore: He is perhaps the most celebrated Indian poet internationally, known for his Nobel Prize in Literature and the national anthem of India, "Jana Gana Mana."

* Mahatma Gandhi: While best known as a political leader, Gandhi also wrote extensively, including poems that are widely considered part of the national literary heritage.

* Mirza Ghalib: A renowned Urdu poet, Ghalib's works are considered a pinnacle of Urdu literature and are deeply embedded in Indian cultural consciousness.

* Muhammad Iqbal: Also known as Allama Iqbal, he was a philosopher and poet who played a significant role in the struggle for independence and is revered in Pakistan and India.

* Kabir: A 15th-century poet-saint who is revered in both Hinduism and Islam. His devotional poetry transcends religious boundaries and is highly influential in India.

It's important to note that this list is not exhaustive, and there are many other esteemed poets from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds who have significantly enriched Indian poetry.
