What is the movie Annie about?

Annie is a popular musical-comedy film based on the 1977 Broadway musical of the same name. The story revolves around Annie, a young and spirited orphan girl, played by Quvenzhané Wallis, who lives in a rundown orphanage run by the cruel and neglectful Miss Hannigan, portrayed by Cameron Diaz.

The film begins with Annie dreaming of a better life. One day, a wealthy and eccentric business tycoon named Benjamin "Ben" Stack, played by Jamie Foxx, accidentally comes across Annie while walking through the streets of New York City and is instantly smitten by her charm and optimism. Ben decides to take Annie in for Christmas, which sparks a wild adventure for Annie as she adjusts to her new life of luxury.

Throughout the film, Annie's presence starts to inspire and bring positive changes to the lives of those around her, including Ben and his household staff Grace (Rose Byrne) and Guy (Bobby Cannavale). Meanwhile, Miss Hannigan, who is infuriated by Annie's good fortune, plots to reclaim her by resorting to various comical schemes along with her scheming brother, Rooster (Craig T. Nelson), and his girlfriend Lily (Adepero Oduye).

As Annie's stay with Ben extends beyond the holidays, a political campaign led by Ben's ruthless secretary, Guy Danlily, threatens to disrupt their newfound happiness. Annie's unwavering optimism plays a crucial role in turning things around, as she ultimately unites her newfound family and exposes the truth behind Danlily's devious plans.

Annie features iconic and beloved songs from the original musical, including "Tomorrow," "It's the Hard Knock Life," and "Maybe." It is a heartwarming story about courage, optimism, and the transformative power of love and friendship.
