Writing about yourself isn't always the easiest of tasks, but people are often asked to do it. People tend to write about themselves in cover letters for job applications, college admission essays or in autobiography writing classes. But there are times when you might need to write a speech about self-significance (when accepting a new position or running for public office), so being able to write and speak well about yourself is important. There are ways to write a stellar self-significance speech that will not only sound great, but make you look good, too.

Instructions

Think of all the important things you've done.

List some of things that you have done that you are proud of: accomplishments, awards, certificates, degrees and other significant achievements. Make a full list of things that you consider significant and admirable, including jobs and volunteerships.

Link your accomplishments to your personality.

List some of the things you find significant about your personality. Write down your most positive attributes. For example, you may want to write down your philanthropic nature, your patience and your strong work ethic. Relate these personality traits to the achievements you've had. If you worked hard to get your community to donate money for the local children's hospital, you can relate your work with the hospital to your philanthropy.

      Be conversational but professional.

Begin the speech by writing a short introduction about who you are. According to Write-Out-Loud, speeches should be written as though you are talking directly to your audience. The speech should be formal but conversational. Let the readers know a little about you: your name, where you reside and what you do for work.

    • 4
Be confident when talking about yourself.

Write another paragraph or section about your significance. Relate your words to why you are giving the speech. For example, if you're giving a speech in an attempt to be voted into public office, you may want to discuss your political know-how and experience. Elaborate on a few things that you've done that are significant, writing in depth about one or two of the things you mentioned. Give the audience details about things you've done and why they make you an important individual.

Edit the speech so it reads clearly.

Edit the speech so that it reads clearly and has no errors. Make sure it provides coherent information about you. Avoid and edit any sentences that are rambling or long-winded. Edit the speech for any incorrect grammar, spelling or sentence structure.
