If you're trying to find an obituary on your former Latin American studies professor who just passed away, you can look at journals such as Hispania, Hispanic American Historical Review and Latin American Issues Review to see if someone published information on him or her.
Read local lifestyle magazine websites. If you found out about the recent passing of your former manager, and you worked at a well-known local cosmetics shop, type in that person's name in the "search" box. If the person's name didn't show up on the site, then type in the name of the cosmetics shop you worked at.
