Romero (born August 21, 1957 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is an American obstetrician, scientist and researcher, and the Chief of the Perinatology Research Branch at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He is a world expert in preterm labor and pregnancy disorders. He is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology (AJOG).
