Poetic device on the carpenter complaint by edward baugh?

Metaphor:

* "My trade’s a knife that I must hone,/To pare the bark for bark I seek..."- The carpenter compares his skill with woodworking with the knife used in his trade.

Alliteration:

"A wooden wedge to split it wide..." -The use of "w" creates a sibilant effect that suggests the sound of wood being split

"I feel the wood-dust in my throat..."- Alliteration in "wood-dust" captures the physical discomfort and harshness experienced by the speaker

Personification:

“I hold its temper to the light." - Giving an aspect of "temper" of a blade to the "wood itself.
