What does Shakespeare mean by the word whither?

The word "whither" is used by Shakespeare in the sense of "to what place" or "in what direction". For example, in the play "The Tempest", Shakespeare writes:

"Whither, you crabbed monster,

Do you lead me to?"

In this line, Shakespeare is using the word "whither" to ask the character Caliban where he is taking him.
