He is currently working on his first feature film, The Girl Who Loved Math, which is based on his short story of the same name.
Tumuluri's work has been translated into more than a dozen languages. He has been awarded numerous prizes, including the O. Henry Prize, the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize, and the Whiting Award. He is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and the University of Iowa. He currently lives in New York City.
