When was Shakespeares work first published?
The first edition of William Shakespeare's works, commonly known as the First Folio, was published in 1623, seven years after his death. It was compiled by his friends and fellow actors, John Heminges and Henry Condell, and printed by Isaac Jaggard and Edward Blount. The First Folio contains 36 plays attributed to Shakespeare, including 18 that had not been previously published in quarto form. It is considered one of the most important works in English literature and has served as the basis for all subsequent editions of Shakespeare's plays.
