Abd al-Rahman al-Jabarti or Al-Jabarti (Arabic: عبد الرحمن الجبرتي; 1754–1822), also known as Jabarti Effendi, was an Egyptian Arab polymath, historian and biographer, who was one of the pioneers of modern historiography in Egypt. He was born into an illustrious family in Cairo during the Ottoman era. He is remembered for his chronicles, which constitute a primary historical source for the final decades of Ottoman Egypt and the dawn of the Muhammad Ali dynasty.
