What did Shakespeare say love is?

Shakespeare famously wrote in *A Midsummer's Night Dream* (c. 1595) that

"Love looks not with the eyes" and “Love is blind".

However, in *Taming of the Shrew* (c. 1593-4) he also wrote it can "Feed thy sighs with love / Let them suck the vital spirits from thee."
