What happened to Tommy after he told the tale Andy in shawshank redemption?

After Tommy told the tale to Andy in Shawshank Redemption, the warden called him to the warden's office and told him he was going to solitary confinement. Tommy was never seen again. It is presumed that he died in solitary confinement.
