How do Oedipus and Jocasta greet the news that Polybus is dead in

When Oedipus learns that Polybus is dead, he is filled with joy and relief. He had always believed that Polybus was his real father, and that he had been abandoned as a baby because of a prophecy that said he would kill his father. With Polybus dead, Oedipus believes that this prophecy has been proven false, and he can finally live a happy life with his family.

Jocasta, however, is not as overjoyed by the news. She knows that Oedipus is not really Polybus's son, and that the prophecy about him killing his father is still true. She tries to warn Oedipus about this, but he refuses to listen.

The fact that Oedipus and Jocasta react so differently to the news of Polybus's death foreshadows the tragic events that will soon follow. Oedipus will eventually discover the truth about his parentage, and he will be forced to face the consequences of his actions.
