Different between short story and a novel?

A short story and a novel are both works of fiction, but they differ in length and complexity.

Short story:

- Typically between 1,000 and 7,500 words

- Focuses on a single event or a small number of related events

- Features a limited number of characters

- Has a simple plot and a clear resolution

Novel:

- Typically over 40,000 words

- May cover a long period of time and multiple locations

- Features a large number of characters

- Has a complex plot and multiple subplots

- May explore social or cultural issues

In general, short stories are more focused and have a more limited scope than novels. Novels offer more room for character development, plot development, and exploration of themes.
