Who sent Dobby to Harry in Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?

Dobby was not sent to Harry by anyone in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Rather, he came of his own accord to warn Harry of the dangers that awaited him at Hogwarts that year.
