How did Ginny Weasley open the Chamber of Secrets?

Ginny Weasley did not open the Chamber of Secrets. Tom Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort, opened the Chamber while he was still a student at Hogwarts. Ginny was merely used as a tool to indirectly open it.
