How was Mikaela written out of the Transformers movie series?

Mikaela Banes was not written out of the Transformers movie series. She appeared in the first three films, played by actress Megan Fox. However, she does not appear in the fourth or fifth films, as Fox declined to return to the franchise due to creative differences with director Michael Bay.
