Star Wars is not a ripoff of Frank Dune. However, George Lucas, who created Star Wars, has acknowledged the influence of Frank Herbert's Dune on his work. In an interview, Lucas said that he was "inspired by Dune" and that "Dune was the first science fiction novel I ever read."
