Is the Bronx tale based on Robert De real life story?

The Bronx Tale is based on the real-life experiences of Chazz Palminteri, who wrote the play and screenplay on which the film is based. Palminteri grew up in the Bronx during the 1960s and was involved in organized crime. He has said that the film is a semi-autobiographical account of his life.

The film tells the story of Calogero Anello (played by Palminteri), a young man who grows up in the Bronx and becomes involved with the local mafia. Calogero is torn between his desire for a normal life and his loyalty to his family and friends in the mob. The film explores the themes of family, loyalty, and the search for identity.
