"A Stolen Life" has two alternate endings: the original theatrical release had Beth marrying Rod after Pat's death when they are both working for a charity in London, while in the later released "European cut", Beth returns to the United States, becomes successful on her own merit as a concert harpist, reunites with Dick as Rod dies in the line of duty in World War II. Dick, having been cleared of the charge in his court-martial, resumes practicing and becomes chief surgeon as Beth retires as the hospital becomes her legacy.
