How to Find Choose Your Own Path Stories Online

The Choose Your Own Adventure series of books debuted in 1977. Since then, the genre has experienced an upgrade with the success of the Internet and mobile applications. You can find choose your own path stories online on a variety of websites. Many of the sites are community-based and allow users to interact with each other for critiques and suggestions. After reading a few stories online, you can choose to write your own and upload it to share with the community.

      Browse "The Stacks" on The Neverending Tale. This directory of choose your own path style stories features more than 15 titles broken into three groups. It includes stories for young readers, adolescents and older readers. The stories in the first young readers section are "G-rated" and those in the adolescent readers category are considered "PG." This site adds an additional twist where readers also have the option to create a new choice and the resulting path at every crossroads.

      Read choose your own path stories on ChooseYourStory.com. This community-based website is a forum for writers to come together and create stories in a variety of genres. Members are allowed to create, read and comment on all of the stories in the database. In addition to the two "Top 5" lists of stories, one for new users and the other for advanced users, the site also has a search feature. You may type keywords or allow the system to generate a random story. Each story shows the ratings it has received as well as some of the comments from other users.

      Choose a website from the DMOZ open directory project's "Choose Your Own Adventure" section (see Resources). The directory is constantly growing and new sites are added frequently. As of May 2011, the list has 17 websites dedicated to choose your own path style stories. Some of the sites are based on specific themes and others are links to stories from one author. However, the majority of the sites lead to dozens, and in same cases hundreds, of online stories.
