Who is Eckel in the story The Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury?

Eckel is the main character in the short story "The Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury. Eckel is a timid and curious man who travels back in time to hunt dinosaurs as a part of a guided adventure. He is warned not to deviate from the designated path or touch anything, as the slightest change in the past could have catastrophic consequences in the present. However, due to his curiosity, he steps off the path and steps on a butterfly, unknowingly causing a chain of events that significantly alters the future.
