How to Stop Catalog Delivery

Sometimes the amount of junk mail that fills your mailbox can overwhelm you, forcing you to sort through piles of unwanted mail each week. Those concerned with the environment may also wish to prevent wasting paper with catalogs they do not need or use. While you can recycle unwanted catalogs, you may find it easier to stop their delivery all together. To do so, call the number listed on the back of your catalog to have your name removed from a company's distribution list.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather your information so that you can reference it easily. A company may ask for your name, address and zip code in order to locate your account and remove you from the distribution list.

    • 2

Turn the catalog over so the back is facing you. The company's customer service number should be listed on the back in small print. You may also find a number specifically related to removing your name from the distribution list. Alternately, you may find the customer service number on the inside back cover of the catalog.

    • 3

Call the number listed and ask to speak with the department that handles catalog delivery or marketing. Remain on hold if they do not connect you right away.

    • 4

Ask that the company stop sending you catalogs and remove your name from the company mailing. Avoid bargaining or explaining your reasoning with the representative. Some aggressive representatives may ask you questions regarding your satisfaction with the company or service in order to prevent you from completing your request. Be polite, but remain clear that you no longer wish to receive catalogs.
