How to Cover Books Using a Laminator

Everyone has spilled coffee or other liquids on important papers and books. By laminating a book's cover, it keeps the cover safe for a long time. Lamination machines stick a thin film of plastic coating to the cover of the book. This keeps the cover safe from fingerprints and scratches. A book can be laminated in various ways, like thin-film laminating, rigid-film lamination, sealed-edge laminating and flush-cut laminating.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull off the cover from the book. Flatten it by placing under a heavy object.

    • 2

Dust the book using a cloth. Sometimes small grains of sand will deposit on the laminated cover, as you peel off the protective cover.

    • 3

Turn on the laminating machine. The machine will take five to 10 minutes to warm up.

    • 4

Peel the protective cover off of the laminating pouch. Place the cover in the pouch. Position it in the middle. The lamination pouch goes over the outside and inside of the cover.

    • 5

Insert the cover in the laminating machine. Lamination machines usually have a horizontal insertion point.

    • 6

Pass the cover in the pouch through the rollers of the machine.

    • 7

Reattach the cover onto the book using super glue. Let the glue dry for 10 minutes.
