How to Keep an Intuitive Journal

Keeping an intuitive journal presents you with a method of keeping track of your impressions, hunches and dreams. An intuitive journal works slightly differently than a normal diary. The purpose of this journal is to encourage you to write down what your intuition tells you to do about a particular situation. Often, it's only when it's too late to follow the guidance that you realize that the idea had merit. The intuitive journal helps you to commit these impressions on paper so that you learn to trust your instincts, helping you to better trust your decisions over the course of time.

Instructions

    • 1

Commit to writing in the journal at least 10 minutes a day. The best time to write in the journal is right when you wake up, because you're still in that twilight stage between sleep and wakefulness. However, write in the journal throughout the day as well whenever you get a fleeting impression or intuition about something.

    • 2

Record your dreams. A person's dreams hold many keys to the subconscious. They can be prophetic at times also. If you dream something over and over again or the same themes pop up in your your dreams, your dreams may be trying to tell you something. Write these in your journal.

    • 3

Write down what the voice of intuition tells you at odd times like when you're in the shower. Often the answer to life's questions come when you're doing something else, because you're relaxed enough to let the answers from your subconscious mind bubble forth. Add these impressions to the pages of your intuitive journal.

    • 4

Keep a list of quotes about intuition. These inspire you to trust yourself and the voice of guidance that comes forth from within.

    • 5

Ask questions and write down the answers as they come. When it comes to making decisions about matters of the heart, where to move or whether to take one job over another, it sometimes seems as if the answers are illusive. Ask yourself the question before you go sleep. When you wake up, write down any thoughts you have on it.

    • 6

Use cards or illustrations to jog feelings or impressions. Many people who keep an intuitive journal use tarot cards to help stimulate their thinking. However, you can use books on art, mythology or any other book of this type. Additionally, if you draw the pictures in the books while you concentrate on receiving an answer, you'll quiet your mind long enough for the answer to emerge in the pages of your journal while you draw in it. Go over the pages a couple of days later. Look at the patterns you see that connect the writings and drawings you made to a problem with which you're wrestling in life.

    • 7

Record synchronicity. Synchronicity deals with a series of coincidences that lead you to the next step on your life's journey. Ask yourself why certain symbols keep cropping up in unrelated places. Write these down in the journal when you're looking for answers.
