How to Read Devil's Secret Manga

Hinako Takanaga's manga "The Devil's Secret," or "Akuma no Himitsu," is a yaoi manga that features a gay romance. This one-volume manga chronicles the forbidden love affair between a young priest and a young man who turns out to be a demon. 801 Media, a subsidiary of Digital Manga, published the official English-language version. When you want to know how to read "The Devil's Secret," you need to know both how to locate a copy and how to navigate through the manga page.

Instructions

  1. Locate the Manga

    • 1

Buy the manga from Internet stores. The English version of "The Devil's Secret," released in May 2008, is no longer in print and may be difficult to find in bookstores. However, you can find new and used copies for sale online. Try online book retailers and auction websites.

    • 2

Search used bookstores. Secondhand bookstores are more likely to have out-of-print books in stock than typical bookstores.

    • 3

Check your local library. Some libraries stock manga. You can check your local library's online catalog for "The Devil's Secret." Check neighboring libraries as well. Some libraries offer to get you books from other libraries free of charge.

    Read the Manga

    • 4

Read the first panel on the right page in the top right corner. Because the Japanese read from right to left, the manga page is essentially a mirrored image of an American comic book page. You begin with the top right corner of the right page.

    • 5

Move your gaze to the left. The panel immediately to the left is the next panel you read. After that panel, read the panel to the left of that one until you hit the end of the page.

    • 6

Progress down to the next row of panels from the right side of the page. Again, read from the right side of the page all the way to the left. Move your eyes downward, if there is another row of panels, and read from right to left again.

    • 7

Continue to read from right to left and from top to bottom. Read the left pages after you read the right pages.
