Browse through some issues of the Sailor Moon series to get an idea of what the character looks like before you draw her. If your library or comic-book store does not carry the series, you may be able to search the Internet for pictures. Decide what type of action scenes you want to depict.
Draw a girl with a slightly heart-shaped face and large, round, blue eyes. The heart motif is one found throughout Sailor Moon manga, as she is described as having a kind heart.
Add long hair that has bangs forming a heart on the forehead and two small puffs on the top of her head, looking almost like animal ears. This is called an "odango" hairstyle, after the word for rice dumplings. Ink the hair yellow when it is time to colorize your drawing.
Create Sailor Moon's uniform. It is a white sailor dress with a short skirt and blue accents. Add dark pink or red hearts with yellow crescent moons inside them. Her boots are red as well.
Draw some white, feathery-looking hair ornaments on top of Sailor Moon's head. These barrettes are sometimes used as weapons in battle.
Use pink as a background color when showing Sailor Moon's alter ego, Usagi the schoolgirl. Usagi is described as a daydreamer. Add stars, flowers, hearts or other decorations that show a dreamy, romantic look.
