How to Make Reading a Book More Interesting

You like reading, but you find you have some difficulty concentrating if the book isn't fast-paced. You would also like to encourage your kids to read more by showing them how interesting reading can be. Use these ideas to make reading a book more interesting.

Instructions

    • 1

Join a book club so you can discuss the book with other people. Meet each week as you go through the chapters. Talk about the characters, plot and your interpretation of the book. Create a book club for your kids.

    • 2

Read outside in the sun while lying on a blanket. Make sure you wear sun glasses so the glare on the page doesn't give you a headache. Sit on a lawn chair or lounge if you don't like sitting on the ground.

    • 3

Curl up in your favorite chair with a cup of coffee. Put your feet up and lose yourself in the pages of the book.

    • 4

Lie in bed early in the morning and spend hours lost in the story. Stay awake late at night if you don't like getting up early. Prop up all your pillows and get comfortable.

    • 5

Read out loud to another person. You can share the story and talk about all the things that happen between the pages. Take turns guessing what will happen next.

    • 6

Purchase a book on tape. You can listen to the story and hear the characters' voices. You can even listen to the book while working or driving.

    • 7

Read a book online. Join a chat room and discuss the book with other readers. You will meet other people who will interpret the book differently than you did, which can create some interesting discussions.
