  1. How to Create Your Own Magazine Pages

    • 1

You could make an e-zine, which is homemade and handwritten, where you can draw or cut out pictures and words from magazines to glue or tape into your own. It could be a free magazine or newsletter or an online publication. You can design your magazine pages on a computer and mess around with font, colors and size, then actually send it to a printing press for a fee. All of this depends upon what you want your magazine to focus on, who you are targeting and how many people you want to reach.

    • 2

Decide what you want your magazine to focus on. Choose something that you are passionate about, or that you know there is a market for. You can choose content ranging from music, to sports to local events or attractions. Check licensing requirements in your area for free and marketed publications.

    • 3

Create an outline for your magazine pages. You will have to decide things such as how large you want the pages to be and how many. Also decide whether magazine pages will be in full color, partial color or black and white. Lay out it out as "Cover"....."Page 1-Credits"....."Page 2-Letter From the Editor," and so forth. Choose sections that you desire, such as Fashion or Local Concerts. Fill each section with articles and pictures that are interesting, fresh, factual and organized. Make sure you have page numbers, a front and back cover, photo and editorial credits and a table of contents, with an issue date.

    • 4

Find writers who would work best with certain sections of your magazine pages, unless you are writing all of the pages yourself. You can find writers in local ads and on Internet job websites, and some writers will even work for free because they just want to boost the quality and quantity of their portfolios. Assign each writer a story and make sure he researches and understands the style of your magazine, as well as his deadline.

    • 5

Decide where you want to market your magazine and what audience it applies to. Many establishments lets you hand your publications for free outside their doors, as long as you are not soliciting. Let them know what the magazine is about and why people would want to read it.

    • 6

Gather the written articles and advertisements and make sure you, or someone who knows how to edit, goes over the articles to make sure they are legitimate, factual and original. Add the articles to your magazine layout, either on a computer or by placing each page side by side on a large wall panel or floor.

    • 7

Gather pictures for your editorials and articles. If you are creating your own magazine ads, use a different style photography for that. If you are having a photographer take pictures for different things, make sure they sign a photographer release form and you supply them with credit in your pages. If you do not want to take the pictures yourself or hire a photographer, search for images online that are licensed for use, or list credit for pictures that you use.

    • 8

Decide how you want to bind your magazine and what paper you would like to use. After this is decided, send it to a publisher, publish it yourself, or keep it handmade the way it is for an original touch.
