Find ways to animate the story that you will tell. This can include using props, sound effects or puppets to help the story come alive for your audience. You may want to make a puppet house using cardboard, construction paper, fabric and various other art supplies.
Take an amateur acting class at a community theater of community college. Actors learn how to use every tool at their disposal to relate a story to an audience. These tools include the actors voice, movements and emotions.
Get your audience involved in the story. Ask members of your audience to participate, even in a small way. For example, if you were telling the story of "The Little Engine that Could," children could say the line "I think I can" or make the noises of a train.
