Choose the Moleskine notebook that's right for you. There are many Moleskine products customized for special uses. But the most popular are the simple notebooks, and the most common sizes are "pocket" (3.5 x 5.5 inches) and "large" (5.25 x 8.25 inches). You can also choose from lined pages, graph-paper style pages, or blank pages. Visit the Moleskine website to review the complete product line (see "Resources" below), or to find a retailer near you that carries Moleskine notebooks. If you haven't used a Moleskine notebook before, it's probably best to see the product range for yourself to choose the right size and features for you.
Use your Moleskine notebook as a non-digital PDA. Decide what categories of information you would like to organize in your daily life (i.e., to-do lists, addresses, shopping lists, projects, etc.). Divide your Moleskine notebooks into the required number of sections, and separate with self-stick page markers in different colors. Use the expandable pocket at the back to carry business cards, receipts, extra self-stick notes, or other supplies.
Use your Moleskine notebook as a journal. One of the most popular uses of Moleskine notebooks is for journaling (personal diaries, travel journals, and more). Just keep your Moleskine notebook and pen or pencil handy and you can add to your journal during a bus ride, while waiting in a doctor's office, or any time you have a few moments to spare. Or keep a Moleskine notebook beside your bed as a dream journal.
Use your Moleskine notebook for visual art. Because of their flexible cover and sturdy construction, Moleskine notebooks are expandable and are great for collage or scrapbooking projects. Because of their handy size they are also used as quick sketchbooks. Moleskine notebooks specifically designed for sketching or for watercolor are also available. See "Resources" below for ideas on creating art journals with Moleskine notebooks.
Use your Moleskine notebook as a project planner. Use it for a building/remodeling project to keep paint chips, inspiration, contractor phone numbers and business cards, and other notes all in one place. Keep track of your garden projects, including planting schedules, wish lists, and to-do lists. It also makes a great wedding planner.
Keep track of your hobbies and passions. Keep a record of books you've read, or films or plays you have seen, with a brief review of each. Keep a diary of wines you've tried, including the occasion and meals for each. If you are a collector, a Moleskine journal is a great place to keep track of your hobby, including wish lists, documenting items you have in your collection, and making notes on where to find new items.
