Choose three or four books that are similar in theme, such as "A Wish To Be A Christmas Tree" by Colleen Monroe, "The Littlest Christmas Tree" by Janie Jasen, and "The Little Fir Tree" by Margaret Wise Brown. Start with a border around the edge of your bulletin board. You may use something as simple as a plain, green border or something more elaborate like a border made of paper Christmas tree ornaments. Use white construction paper to create a snowy ground at the bottom of the bulletin board and add cotton balls for dimension. Create a few Christmas trees with construction paper and tissue paper and intersperse between the book covers. Complete your bulletin board by cutting out letters and placing across the top of your bulletin board to say "Once Upon A Christmas Tree."
Most countries have their own, unique Christmas traditions. Begin your bulletin board with a simple red border. Choose four countries from various parts of the world and do a bit of research on their Christmas traditions. Divide your bulletin board into four equal sections by placing gift wrapping ribbon horizontally and vertically on the bulletin board the way you would with a gift. Place a bow in the middle of the ribbons. Each of the four sections will display a Christmas tradition from one of the chosen countries. As an example, if you chose Germany as one of your countries you might hang an Advent Calendar in this section as this is a very popular tradition in Germany. Finish this bulletin board off by adding the words "Christmas Around the World" to the top.
Christmas and food go hand-in-hand. Some families have traditional foods they fix year after year and some enjoy trying new baked goods or meal recipes. Begin your holiday food-themed bulletin board with a border of paper candy canes. Add book covers from three or four Christmas cookbooks or display the books on a bookshelf. Section your bulletin board into areas for appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. Add pictures (you can make your own or color copy from a cookbook) to each section and, for an added bonus, provide some copies of recipes used in the display. Complete this bulletin board with the heading "Christmas Eats and Treats" across the top.
