How to Find Spanish Editions of Magazines

In the U.S. Census Bureau's 2006 demographic report, it was projected that Hispanic population will be 17.8 percent of total U.S. population by 2020. Therefore, American magazine companies are increasingly releasing Spanish editions of their English language magazines. In some U.S. states, the Hispanic population is large. According to the 2006 census, about 13.1 million Hispanics lived in California at that time, and about 8.4 million lived in Texas.

Instructions

    • 1

Look for Spanish editions of magazines at local businesses that sell magazines, such as grocery stores, convenience stores, book stores, department stores and magazine stands.

    • 2

Order Spanish editions online from sites such as www.spanish-bookworld.com. This site offers magazine subscriptions to Spanish language publications such as National Geographic, People Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Conde Nast Traveler and ESPN Magazine.

    • 3

Search the local library. There could be Spanish editions in the magazine section. Most U.S. libraries don't allow new issues to leave the library premises, but many libraries have back issues you can check out and take home by using a library card. Ask the librarian if a free or low-cost magazine section is available. Many libraries have free magazine sections of back issues. Some libraries require a small donation for magazines they no longer want to keep on the shelves. This amount is usually less than one dollar.
