How to Find a Device PID
A device PID, which stands for Personal ID, is needed if you use the Mobipocket Reader on your portable reading device. You can recognize the PID as being a 10-character ID, which includes numbers, symbols and capital letters. A PID is unique to each device, as it identifies that specific device. In fact, all portable electronic reading devices have a PID. Some e-books require the input of a PID before you can read the file.

Launch Mobipocket Reader on your device.

Open the “Help” menu on your device. Exact location varies by device.

Go to the “About” section to locate your PID. It will be listed in this area for your use. The exception to this is the Kindle. With it, you must input the Kindle serial number into the Kindle Tools website (see Resources) to get the PID.
