Instructions

    • 1

Add 20 oz. lemongrass hydrosol to the gallon jug. Lemongrass hydrosol is a distilled water containing the essences of lemongrass, which is a cleansing herb that smells a bit like lemon. This natural ingredient, along with the other ingredients needed in this recipe, can be obtained from a craft or botanical supply shop. Follow up by adding 1 oz. lemongrass extract.

    • 2

Scoop 1 cup borax into the jug with the lemongrass hydrosol. Borax is a natural ingredient that is used as a laundry booster, insecticide, emulsifier and for other uses. When added to a homemade laundry soap solution, borax heightens the ability to brighten whites and lift stains.

Add 1 cup vegetable glycerin. Vegetable glycerin is anatural ingredient that gives a gel-like, soapy consistency to liquid formulations such as laundry soap, shampoo, and body wash. It is vegetable-derivative, unlike tallow and mineral-based glycerins.

Secure the lid on the jug and shake it vigorously for two or three minutes, or until the solution froths up into a thickened cloudy mixture.
