How to Set a Book Title for KindleGen

KindleGen is a free command line application developed by Amazon.com which allows publishers to convert an hypertext markup language file to a file compatible with the Kindle electronic reading device. KindleGen uses the HTML tags present in the original document to format the e-book. You can set the title of your e-book by inserting a specific tag into the original HTML file.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a text editor, such as Notepad, to open the HTML file that contains the e-book you want to convert.

    • 2

Insert the following tag between the <head> and </head> tags near the top of the file:
      <title>Your book title</title>
Replace "Your book title" with the actual title you wish to use.

    • 3

Click on "File" and select "Save." Run the KindleGen command line tool as usual.
