Write and edit your book. Have someone else proof your book for spelling, grammar, content and continuity.
Determine how you want your book to look. Will it be soft bound or hard back? What size will it be (dimensions)? What will be on the cover? Will you create the cover yourself or hire someone?
Investigate self publishing services. There are many resources that can print your book quickly. They all offer different services, packages, and pricing. To find the one that best fits your books, you'll need to know:
1. How many books will you need?
2. Will you need an ISBN and bar code to sell in bookstores?
3. Will it soft or hard bound and what kind of binding will it have?
4. How many pages and what are the dimensions of the book?
5. Are there graphics or charts?
6. Will you be doing the cover art or will the publishing service?
All these can impact print costs.
Submit your manuscript to the printer per its instructions. Usually you can upload it digitally, but sometimes the printer has special formatting instructions for your manuscript.
Request a copy for proofing. Don't order a large quantity of books until you've proofed it. Check the look and feel of the book itself. Does it look professional? Does it look like a book people would pull of the shelf to look at? Check one more time for spelling or grammar errors.
Order a print run and start distributing your books. You don't want to be stuck with a garage full of books, so start with a smaller print run until you know the best ways to get the book sold.
