* Saint Edmund the Martyr (c. 841–869) was the King of East Anglia from 855 to 869. He is venerated as a saint in the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches.

* Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York (1341–1402) was a younger son of Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault. He was the progenitor of the House of York, which would claim the English throne during the Wars of the Roses.
