Who got M.C. Escher interested in tessellations?

M.C. Escher discovered his love of tessellations while in the Alhambra, a Moorish palace in Granada, Spain. He was fascinated by the intricate patterns of tiles that covered the walls and floors of the palace, and he began to experiment with creating his own tessellations. He went on to create over 100 different tessellations, which are now considered to be some of the most beautiful and complex examples of this type of art.
