How to Send Fan Mail to John Grisham

If you're an avid reader of modern legal thrillers, you've no doubt read plenty of books by John Grisham, who practically invented the genre with the publication of his second novel, "The Firm," in 1991. "The Firm" has been followed by many other books that climbed to number one on the New York Times bestseller list. If you're a John Grisham fan, follow these steps to send him fan mail.

Instructions

    • 1

Plan your letter. At this time, John Grisham does not accept e-mail from fans (when would he find time to write?). So renew your letter-writing skills by starting with the date and a salutation like "Dear Mr. Grisham."

    • 2

Start your letter by introducing yourself with your name. Other information you might want to include is your age or hometown. Maintain a friendly, yet respectful tone.

    • 3

Tell Grisham about why you are a fan of his work. Try to focus on his most recent book or one of your favorites. Include specifics on why you enjoyed it. Keep in mind that Grisham has published 20 books, often releasing one each year.

    • 4

Write about any other special interests that you might share with Grisham. He has long called Mississippi home and loves baseball. In fact, Grisham once dreamed of being a professional baseball player before he settled on a law career. Then of course, he changed to a writing career. Grisham satisfies his baseball itch by helping out with Little League.

Send your letter to Grisham's publisher. You'll find this information on the copyright page of his books as well. Send to: John Grisham, c/o Doubleday Publicity, 1745 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.

Remember to include your return address. While John Grisham is very busy and cannot read or answer all his fan mail, you never know.
